Since educators spend a great deal of time with the children in their care, you will need to learn how to recognise when a child is being abused, how to manage that child, the procedures for reporting abuse as well as how best to deal with disclosure of abuse.
It is not easy having such a responsibility but see your role as educator as being a guardian. If you inform yourself you will be better equipped to assist children in your care as well as educate fellow educators and caregivers.
“No one has yet realized the wealth of sympathy, the kindness and generosity hidden in the soul of a child. The effort of every true education should be to unlock that treasure.” (Emma Goldman)
