Child Protection Week 2016

Provincial child protection events

The Minister of Social Development will launch the 2016 Child Protection Week (CPW) on the 29th May 2015 in Braakspruit Farm, Klerksdorp, Matlosana Local Municipality, North West on 29 May 2016. In addition, the minister will host the official closing ceremony of CPW at Amersfoort, Dr. Pixley Ka Isaka Seme Local Municipality, Mpumalanga on 05 June 2016.

CPW is a campaign that was initiated to raise awareness, as well as to mobilise all sectors and communities towards understanding the perspective of holistic development regarding the care and protection of children. The CPW has become an annual campaign to educate and mobilize communities to put children first. This campaign is led by the Department of Social Development.

The 2016 CPW will be commemorated under the theme “Let Us All Protect Children to Move South Africa Forward”. This is a five year theme approved by the National Child Care and Protection Forum in August 2015. The theme is based on the spirit of “Moving South Africa Forward”.

Due to the intersectoral nature of child protection, you are invited the attend both the launch and the closing ceremony.
