Childline Gauteng
Childline Limpopo could use the following:
Childline Limpopo’s monthly phone bill runs just short of R2500. While all calls coming into the crisis line on the toll free number are sponsored by the Telkom Foundation, all outgoing calls are the responsibility of Childline Limpopo. The purpose of the crisis line is to counsel and disperse information over the phone, as well as make referrals. The telephone line is the key element in linking children in dire need with appropriate resources. Without the ability to make outgoing calls and fax referrals, the principle and purpose of the crisis line is undermined and compromised.Total costs for all outgoing calls = R 36000 Volunteer Shift Allowances Childline Limpopo volunteers answer the crisis line for 12 hours a day, seven days a week. Most of Childline volunteers are unemployed and therefore have no money for transport to and from the regional office. Volunteers are provided with a shift allowance to offset this cost. Costs for 1 year @ 80 p counsellor x 4 per day weekends = R 119040Weekday x 2 counsellors = R 59 560 Total = R178 560 Office rental and Furniture Childline is occupying 11 roomed office space. We anticipate to be operating for 24 hours in the next six months. There is a need for two single beds for the counselors who will be working after hours. In the reception area there is a need for the table and printer. Donation of old computer, screens, keyboards tables, chairs etc will be appreciated.Rental costs = R 91000 The Website Childline Limpopo has no website and this is blocking us from providing parents and children with relevant information. The email address is donated by MWEB. With the 2010 World Cup coming our way, the website can be a valuable tool to keep parents and children with up to date information to protect the children. The reception area Childline has grown that we have six staff members including 3 social workers. The challenge is that we still use one telephone line. The sponsorship of the reception with codes to monitor all outgoing calls will help make Childline services more effective.Costs for the installation of reception = R 14 668.59 Mothiba ECD The centre will be celebrating their first graduation ceremony on the 5th December 2008. Though the Infant Trust from the United Kingdom has been sponsoring the centre by paying the stipend for the care givers and the training, the centre still need some development. The donation of outdoor educational toys will add value in the development of the children. Costs for equipment (once off) = R 15000 Petrol Account Childline has 3 vehicles which are allowing staff to provide the service in the communities. The payment of monthly petrol account by the donor can allow the staff to reach rural areas for education and prevention programmes.Costs for petrol for 1 year = R 31200 Note: It is anticipated that these programmes will for many years need financial support because it focuses on service delivery to the most vulnerable children. We thank you for considering supporting us. Yours sincerely, Priscilla Molaudzi (Director, Childline Limpop) |
