The Children in Distress Network (CINDI) was founded in July 1996, and consists of over 150 NGOs, CBOs, government agencies and individuals - who collaborate in the interests of children affected by HIV and AIDS in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.

Part of CINDI's Mission is to foster a spirit of Ubuntu* among CINDI Members.
"A person with ubuntu is open and available to others, affirming of others, does not feel threatened that others are able and good, for he or she has a proper self-assurance that comes from knowing that he or she belongs in a greater whole and is diminished when others are humiliated or diminished, when others are tortured or oppressed." Spread child grants, urge campaigners

Organisations working with children in distress demonstrated outside the provincial legislature yesterday to add their voices to similar protests, national petitions and presentations of memorandums that seek to extend to 18 years the age to qualify for child support grants.
